    Graham Mason

    Chairman

    B.Bus.Sc (Hons) Actuarial Science (University of Cape Town); B.A (Hons) Economics (University of Cape Town).

    Graham has been the Non-Executive Chairman of M&G Investments Southern Africa since January 2010, after having been CEO since its establishment in 1994. He has 25 years of asset management experience. Prior to founding M&G Investments Southern Africa, Graham worked for Prudential Portfolio Managers in London on both the Japanese desk and in the Global Policy Unit. He also worked for Prudential Corporation Asia as the Head of Fund Management based in Hong Kong. 

    Graham chairs the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board and is an attendee of the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and a member of the Remuneration Committee.

    Chris Sickle

    Chief Executive Officer

    B.Com Accounting (University of the Western Cape); B.Acc.Sc (Hons) (University of South Africa); Chartered Accountant (SA)

    Chris joined M&G Investments in 2019 as Chief Financial Officer and took over from Bernard Fick as Chief Executive Officer in October 2021. He is primarily responsible for all aspects of M&G Investments Southern Africa's operations, including Namibia.

    Chris is a member of the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board, MandG Investment Managers (Pty) Ltd. Board, MandG Investments Life South Africa (RF) Ltd. Board and MandG Investments Unit Trusts South Africa (RF) Ltd. Board. He is also a permanent attendee of the Board Audit Risk & Compliance Subcommittee as well as a member of the Social Ethics and Transformation Subcommittee and the Remuneration Subcommittee.

    Prior to joining M&G Investments, Chris worked for Ernst & Young (EY) as the Regional Managing Partner in the Western Cape and was a member of the EY Africa Executive Board. Chris has over 22 years’ asset management experience, having worked closely with a number of the country’s leading asset managers in an audit and advisory capacity.

    In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and practising woodwork.

    Bruce Grater

    Independent Non-Executive Director

    B.Bus.Sc (Hons) (University of Cape Town); Chartered Financial Analyst (SA and England) (CFA Institute); member of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants and qualified for the Public Accountants and Auditors Board.

    Bruce has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry in South Africa and abroad. He is CEO and Portfolio Manager at Arkmore, a global investment advisory and asset managing consulting business he founded in 2003. Prior to this he worked for several years as a senior portfolio manager and investment analyst at Old Mutual Asset Managers, as well as an audit manager at Deloitte. 

    Bruce is a member of the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board, the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and the MandG Investments Life South Africa (RF) Ltd. Board.

    David Knee

    Chief Investment Officer

    B.Sc Economics (London School of Economics, UK); M.Sc Economics (Birkbeck College, UK); Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals

    David joined M&G Investments in South Africa as Head of Fixed Income in December 2008 and became Chief Investment Officer in July 2016.

    Alongside his CIO role, he is joint Portfolio Manager of several M&G funds as well as a member of M&G’s Asset Allocation Committee, responsible for actively determining asset weightings across our multi-asset funds. David is also a member of the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board as well as a member of the M&G Executive Committee.

    David joined the M&G Group in London as part of the Fixed Income Team in 1997 and transferred to the South African office at the end of 2008. Prior to working at M&G, he managed fixed income portfolios for another London-based asset manager, and in the early 1990s he was employed as a Fixed Income Economist for an investment bank.

    Dr Sibs Moodley-Moore

    Independent Non-Executive Director

    B.A Honours (Simon Fraser University, Canada); M.A (Carleton University, Canada); PhD (University of Washington, USA); 1st year MBA (University of Connecticut, USA).

    Subithra, or Sibs as she is affectionately known, joined the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board as a Non-executive Director in October 2013. She is Chair of the Social, Ethics and Transformation Committee, and a member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. She is currently a lecturer on South African politics and the on-site Director and Associate Professor of Global Studies for Trinity College, Hartford, USA, for their study abroad programme, at the University of Cape Town.

    Prior to this, Sibs was an Executive Director at an asset management company in Cape Town for seven years, where she was responsible for recruitment, black empowerment and transformation, corporate social investment and mentorship programmes. She was also a lecturer in Political Science at the University of Stellenbosch from 1993-1999, and a Review Editor of Politikon, the South African Journal of Politics, from 1994-1997.

    Fabiana Fedeli

    Non-Executive Director

    Graduate degree in Economics, Econometrics and Quantitative Economics (Bocconi University, Milan); Master of Economics, Finance and Econometrics (Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo); Certificate in Financial Asset Management and Engineering (University of Lausanne, Swiss Finance Institute, Lausanne)

    Fabiana joined M&G plc in July 2021 as Chief Investment Officer: Equities and Multi-Asset. She has over 20 years of experience in the investment management industry. Prior to joining M&G, Fabiana was the global head of fundamental equities at Robeco Asset Management, leading an international investment team managing a range of active equity strategies. She had direct portfolio management responsibility for three of those strategies and has extensive experience in integrating sustainability and impact into investment processes. Prior to Robeco, Fabiana held a number of roles both in portfolio management and equity analysis in London, New York and Tokyo. She began her career in the industry at ING Barings Tokyo as a research analyst of Japanese equities.

    Fabiana joined the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board of Directors as a non-executive director in January 2022.

    Linda Yanta

    Independent Non-Executive Director

    B Accountancy (University of Natal); Chartered Accountant (SA); Management Development Programme (Graduate Utility Institute, Stanford University, USA); Certified Internal Auditor; Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants.

    Linda is currently a Director in the Corporate Governance Services unit at SNG, and prior to joining in 2012 held management roles at Eskom: 10 years as General Manager - Assurance & Forensic, and six years as General Manager - Transmission Finance. He has also worked in financial management at Transnet and National Sorghum Brewery. 

    Linda is a member of the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board and chairs the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.

    Marius Botha

    Non-Executive Director

    PhD Finance (University of the Free State)

    Marius joined as Global Chief Risk Officer of M&G Group in November 2020 and was appointed as non-executive director to MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd board in November 2022.

    Previously he was at Aviva Investors where he was Global Director of Investment and Credit Risk. Marius held senior roles as a Fund Manager as well as a Risk Manager. Before Aviva Investors he worked as CRO at Reech AIM Group, Global Head of Commodities Research and Trading at AHL Mand Group, Head of Investment and Counterparty Risk Management as Gartmore Investment Management, Deputy Hedge fund Manager at Threadneedle Investments and Head of Equity Risk Management also at Threadneedle. He started his career at Old Mutual Asset Management in South Africa.

    Marius holds a PhD in Finance from the University of the Free State.

    Pieter Hugo

    Chief Client and Distribution Officer

    B.Com Mathematics (University of Stellenbosch); Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (UK) ; Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa; General Management Program (Harvard Business School, USA).

    Pieter joined M&G Investments in May 2015 as Managing Director of M&G Investments Unit Trusts and Head of Retail Business, and in November 2019 he was appointed as Chief Client and Distribution Officer.

    In addition to being a member of the Executive Committee, Pieter is also a member of the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board and the MandG Investments Unit Trusts South Africa (RF) Limited Board.

    Prior to joining M&G Investments, Pieter was employed by Old Mutual since 1998 and served in a variety of roles spanning actuarial work, employee benefits, product development, and more recently senior management. In 2008 he became Managing Director of Old Mutual Unit Trusts, and was the Deputy CEO of Old Mutual Wealth from 2011.

    Sello Moloko

    Non-Executive Director

    B.Sc Honours in Mathematics (University of Leicester); Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (University of Leicester); Advanced Management Programme (Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania)

    Sello is the co-founder and Executive Chairman of Thesele Group, M&G Investments’ black empowerment partner. Having worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years, he has a wealth of experience, particularly in the investment management and employee benefits sectors. Sello’s previous positions include CEO of Old Mutual Asset Managers, deputy CEO of Capital Alliance Asset Managers and National President of the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals.

    Sello joined the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board of Directors as a non-executive director in March 2018, and is also a member of the Remuneration Committee and an attendee of the Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.

    Thabo Leeuw

    Non-Executive Director

    B.Com (Unizulu); BCompt (Hons) (Unisa); Management Advanced Programme (Wits Business School).

    Thabo is an independent non-executive director of RFG and is also independent chairman of the Boards of Hulamin Limited and ICAS (Pty) Limited. In addition to the above independent roles, Thabo serves as a non-executive director to Vexila (Pty) Ltd, a Thesele Group portfolio company. Prior to establishing Thesele Group, Thabo worked at Cazenove South Africa, initially as an investment analyst and later as a corporate finance director in the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions division.  

    Thabo is a member of the MandG Investments Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. Board and the Social, Ethics and Transformation Committee.

    Chris Sickle

    Daryl van Zyl

    Chief Operating Officer

    Higher Diploma in Education: Financial Accounting (University of the Western Cape); B.Com (Hons): Business Administration (University of the Western Cape); Post Graduate Diploma: Management Practice (Graduate School of Business: University of Cape Town).

    Daryl joined M&G Investments in March 2011 and in February 2022 was appointed as Chief Operating Officer. He is primarily responsible for maintaining M&G’s operational environment. In addition to being a member of the M&G Executive Committee, Daryl is also a member of the MandG Investment Managers (Pty) Ltd. Board, as well as a member of the ASISA Technical & Operations Board sub-committee. 

    With more than 20 years of industry experience, Daryl started his career at Old Mutual where he worked in various client servicing and operational roles, before moving to JP Morgan as Manager of Operations

    Nailah Limbada

    Head of Finance

    B.Bus.Sc Finance (University of Cape Town); M.Comm Financial Management (University of Cape Town); Chartered Accountant (SA)

    Nailah joined M&G Investments in 2019 as a Financial Accountant and in 2021 was appointed as Head of Finance. She is currently responsible for overseeing the Group’s financial planning, reporting and risk management. In addition to being a member of the Executive Committee, Nailah is also a member of the MandG Investments Life South Africa (RF) Limited Board and the MandG Investments Unit Trusts South Africa (RF) Limited Board. 

    Prior to joining M&G Investments, Nailah worked for EY as a Senior Manager in the Financial Services - Wealth and Asset Management division, where she serviced some of Africa’s largest asset managers. She currently has nine years of local and international industry experience, having also worked abroad in EY’s London and New York offices. 

    Nailah is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and has a passion for developing people. In her spare time she tutors young aspiring accountants and enjoys spending time with her family.

    Naleni Govender

    Head of Institutional Business

    B.Com Economics and Finance (University of Natal); PGDip Financial Planning; CFP

    Naleni joined M&G Investments as the Head of Institutional Business during April 2023 and serves on the M&G Executive Committee. She is responsible for growing and maintaining our institutional client base. 

    With more than 18 years of experience in the investment industry, her tenure includes a variety of business development, investment consulting and analyst roles. Naleni previously worked at Ashburton Investments, where she held the role of Director and Head of Institutional Distribution.

    Naleni holds a BCom (Economics and Finance) degree from the University of Natal, and she completed the Post-Graduate Leadership Acceleration Program at the Gordon Institute of Business Science in 2018. She holds a PGDip in Financial Planning and is a qualified CFP® professional.

    Pieter Hugo

    Shaheed Mohamed

    Head of Risk and Compliance

    B.Com Accounting and Information Systems (University of Cape Town); Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (University of Cape Town); Chartered Accountant (SA); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute)

    Shaheed joined M&G Investments in June 2023 as the Head of Risk and Compliance and serves on the M&G Executive Committee. He is responsible for overseeing the risk and compliance functions in the business.

    He brings a wealth of knowledge with more than 25 years of industry experience spanning various roles in risk, compliance, and audit. Prior to joining M&G, he was the Head of Compliance at Old Mutual Investments, having previously fulfilled governance related roles at Cadiz Financial Services, Sanlam and PSG Investment Bank in South Africa. He also spent two years abroad, working in London and New York at audit and insurance companies.

    In his spare time, Shaheed enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including running and cycling.

    Sumayya Davenhill

    Head of Marketing and Retail Client Services

    MBA (University of Cape Town); Post Graduate Marketing and Advertising (Red & Yellow School)

    Sumayya joined M&G Investments in 2012 and is currently the Head of Marketing and Retail Client Services. She is responsible for the brand, overseeing all of M&G Investments' marketing and advertising activities as well as the retail client experience enabled by the retail Client Services Team. Sumayya also looks after the direct retail client’s distribution strategy and is a member of the Executive Committee and MandG Investment Managers (Pty) Ltd. Board.

    Prior to joining M&G Investments, Sumayya worked for Old Mutual Investment Group as the Head of Marketing where she was responsible for the full suite of investment companies within the Group. She has a wealth of advertising and marketing experience, having worked on brands such as Quaystone Asset Management and Nedbank earlier in her career.

    In her spare time, Sumayya enjoys cooking and baking, spending time with her family and is an avid interior designer.

    Yakupha Nkosinkulu

    Head of Human Capital

    B.Soc.Sci, Psychology and Sociology (University of Cape Town); Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies, Entrepreneurial Studies (University of Cape Town); B.Com (Hons) Industrial and Organisational Psychology (University of South Africa); Advanced Diploma in Digital Marketing (Red & Yellow Creative School of Business)

    Yakupha joined M&G Investments as Head of Human Capital in January 2023. She is responsible for managing the HC team, along with overseeing the end-to-end M&G employee experience, growing and nurturing talent, and driving the group’s diversity and inclusion agenda. Having started her career in 2013, she was most recently Group Head of People at SilverTree Brands (the parent company of online brands including UCOOK, Faithful to Nature and PetHeaven), and previously held various Human Resources roles in ecommerce and technology businesses.  

    Yakupha is a member of M&G’s Executive Committee and the Remuneration Committee.

    Aadil Omar

    Head of Equity Research

    B.Com (Hons) (Cum Laude) Investment Management and Finance (University of Pretoria); Masters in Finance (INSEAD); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute).

    With 15 years of investment management experience, Aadil joined M&G Investments in July 2013 as an Equity Analyst, where he was responsible for equity research on the Telecommunications, Pharmaceutical, Hospitals and Media sectors.

    In August 2018, he relocated to London to join a global equity hedge fund, before returning to M&G in January 2020 as the Head of Equity Research and a member of our Equity Portfolio Management team. He now contributes to the management of M&G Investments' Houseview equity portfolios and is also the joint Portfolio Manager of the M&G SA Equity Fund.

    Prior to joining M&G Investments, Aadil spent three years in Equity Research at Macquarie, where he covered the Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Telecommunications sectors. He previously worked in Corporate Finance and Advisory at Nedbank Capital.

    Chris Wood

    Portfolio Manager

    BSc Civil Engineering (University of Cape Town); MBA (University of Cape Town); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute)

    Chris joined M&G Investments in 2004 as an Industrial Analyst and was appointed as a Portfolio Manager in 2005. From 2013 to early 2018, he served as M&G Investments' Head of Equity where he was primarily responsible for overseeing all equity research. He is currently a Senior Portfolio Manager and jointly responsible for managing the M&G SA Equity and Equity Funds (of which the latter has won several Raging Bull and Morningstar Awards under his management), as well as a number of institutional mandates within M&G’s Core equity offering. Chris is also responsible for research on the Food, Beverages, Pharmaceutical, Media and Telecommunications sectors.

    Prior to asset management, Chris started his career as a Civil Engineer, working both locally and overseas, before completing his MBA in 1999, which prompted the move into financial services. He currently has 21 years’ industry experience.

     

    Gareth Bern

    Head of Fixed Income

    Gareth joined M&G Investments in 2004 as a Credit Analyst and was appointed as Head of Fixed Income in 2018. He is also the joint Portfolio Manager of the M&G Bond Fund as well as being responsible for overseeing M&G Investments’ fixed-income institutional mandates.

    Prior to joining M&G Investments, Gareth completed his articles at Ernst & Young and qualified as a CA (SA) in 2003. After spending part of 2004 working in the asset management division of Ernst & Young’s New York office, he returned to South Africa and joined M&G.

    When he’s not busy looking after M&G Investments’ fixed-income mandates, Gareth enjoys reading a good book and is passionate about cross fit.

    Bulent Badsha

    Portfolio Manager

    B.Com Economics (University of Natal)

    Bulent joined M&G Investment Managers in June 2021 as a Fixed Income Analyst involved in portfolio construction, dealing and research. In February 2023 he was named as a Portfolio Manager for the M&G Enhanced Income Fund, alongside Portfolio Managers Roshen Harry and David Knee.

    With more than 20 years of industry experience, Bulent previously worked for Sanlam Investments as a Hedge Fund Manager where he was responsible for starting and managing a global macro hedge fund. Before this, his buy-side experience was as a Fixed Income Strategist at Momentum Asset Management. His sell side experience included roles as a Treasury Economist and Fixed Income Analyst at Rand Merchant Bank and as a Rates Strategist and Rates Trader at ABSA Capital. Bulent started his career as a Deputy Economist at the South African Reserve Bank in June 2001. He has won multiple awards for both research and trading in the annual Financial Mail Analyst of the year Awards and the JSE Spire Awards.

    Kaitlin Byrne

    Portfolio Manager

    B.Acc (Stellenbosch); CA (SA); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute)

    Kaitlin joined M&G in early 2015 as an Equity Analyst, where she was responsible for covering stocks in the industrial and consumer discretionary sector as well as a portfolio of African stocks, primarily focused in the banking sector. In addition to being the joint-Portfolio Manager of our African Equity mandates and funds, she is the joint-Portfolio Manager on the M&G  Dividend Maximiser Fund, as well as a portfolio of specialist Select Equity mandates for institutional clients.

    Prior to joining M&G, Kaitlin completed her articles at Ernst & Young, where she was responsible for auditing companies in the Finance, Gaming and Leisure, Real Estate and Manufacturing sectors. Kaitlin’s qualifications include a BAcc degree from Stellenbosch University. She is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA charterholder.

    Leonard Krüger

    Portfolio Manager

    BSc (Hons) Actuarial Mathematics (University of Pretoria); Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

    Leonard joined M&G Investments in October 2020. He is currently the joint Portfolio Manager of the M&G Balanced, Inflation Plus, SA Equity and Target Income Funds, as well as the Namibian Balanced and Inflation Plus Funds.

    With 14 years of dedicated investment management experience, Leonard spent the first three years of his career as an actuarial analyst at Liberty Life, before joining Allan Gray as an equity analyst in 2007. During his investment career he has covered a wide variety of companies and sectors. In 2014, he started managing a portion of the Allan Gray Equity and Balanced Funds, and from 2015 a portion of the Allan Gray Stable Fund (across all asset classes) as well as all of Allan Gray’s legacy segregated private client equity portfolios.

    Michael Moyle

    Co-Head of Multi-Asset

    Michael joined M&G Investments in 2007 and is currently the Co-Head of Multi-Asset and a senior fund manager. He is primarily responsible for determining the asset allocation in M&G’s multi-asset mandates.

    Prior to joining M&G Investments, Michael started his career as part of a team of engineers tasked with helping NASA redesign the infamous O-ring. After returning to South Africa, he worked at one of the country’s leading investment managers where he focused on portfolio risk and construction.

    In his spare time, Michael enjoys reading, going to the gym and is also an avid cyclist.

     

    René Prinsloo

    Portfolio Manager

    B.Sc (Hons) Actuarial Science (Stellenbosch University); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute); Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries

    René joined M&G Investments in October 2019 as a Fixed Income Analyst and was promoted to Portfolio Manager in December 2021. He is the joint Portfolio Manager of the M&G Money Market, High Interest Fund and Income Funds. 

    With 18 years of industry experience, René previously worked for Avior Capital Markets as a Fixed Income Analyst and Dealer where he was responsible for Avior’s fixed income research product, as well as jointly responsible for the fixed income dealing activities within the business.

    Roshen Harry

    Portfolio Manager

    B.Comm (Rhodes University); Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting (Rhodes University); CA (SA) and CFA.

    Roshen joined M&G Investments in May 2006 and is the joint Portfolio Manager of several M&G funds, including the Enhanced Income, High Interest, Income and Money Market Funds.

    With 20 years of investment experience, prior to joining M&G Investments Roshen completed his articles at Deloitte & Touche before joining Rand Merchant Bank in their Risk and Compliance division.

    Ross Biggs

    Head of Equity

    Ross has 19 years of dedicated experience in investment management, having joined M&G Investments in 2001 as an Equity Analyst, progressing to Portfolio Manager and then Head of Equity in February 2020.

    He is the joint-Portfolio Manager of the M&G SA Equity and Dividend Maximiser Funds, with the latter having won several Raging Bull and Morningstar Awards for performance. As Head of Equity, Ross is responsible for overseeing the management of M&G Investments' Houseview equity portfolios, as well as a portfolio of specialist Select Equity mandates for institutional clients. He is also the lead Portfolio Manager for our African Equity mandates.

    Prior to joining M&G Investments, Ross completed his articles with Andersen in 2000, where he focused on external audit, due diligence and investigative work across a range of sectors, both in South Africa and the USA.

    Sandile Malinga

    Co-Head of Multi-Asset

    BSc Mathematical Statistics and Actuarial Science (University of the Witwatersrand); Fellow of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries.

    Sandile joined M&G Investments in 2013 as a member of the fixed-income team, and joined the multi-asset team in 2018. In 2023, he was promoted to Co-Head of Multi-Asset, assuming a co-leadership role with Michael Moyle. He is currently the joint-Portfolio Manager of M&G Balanced and Inflation Plus Funds, and he is involved in managing our range of global funds. His role also involves providing analytical and economic support to our multi-asset and fixed-interest investment process. He is a member of the M&G Investments Asset Allocation Committee.

    With 15 years’ industry experience, Sandile previously worked for Investec Asset Management as a fixed interest dealer and analyst. He also served as Portfolio Manager on large institutional fixed interest client mandates with liability immunization objectives.

    Sandile holds a BSc in Mathematical Statistics and Actuarial Science and is a Fellow of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries. 

    Simon Kendall

    Portfolio Manager

    Simon joined M&G Investments in 2012 as a Portfolio Manager and Analyst in the Resources sector. He is currently responsible for managing institutional mandates within the Resources sector, with the Mining and Resources Fund that he manages having won Raging Bull Awards in 2013 and 2014.

    With 23 years of experience, Simon has worked in a range of roles across the mining and asset management industries. Prior to joining M&G Investments, Simon served as a Mining Analyst for RMB Morgan Stanley where he specialised in precious metals.

    Yusuf Mowlana

    Portfolio Manager

    B.Bus.Sc Finance (University of Cape Town); CA (SA); Chartered Accountant; Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute).

    Yusuf joined M&G Investments in October 2018. He is currently the joint Portfolio Manager of the M&G Equity Fund and the Portfolio Manager of the Property and Enhanced SA Property Tracker Funds. He is also responsible for the property allocations within M&G Investments' multi-asset funds as well as equities for Namibian clients.

    Yusuf joined M&G Investments from Allan Gray where he spent five years as an investment analyst, covering companies across various sectors, with a special focus on listed property. He currently has eight years’ industry experience. 

    Jim Leaviss

    Chief Investment Officer of Public Fixed Income

    BA Economics (University of Manchester); GDip History of Art (Courtauld Institute); IIMR Holder (now CFA)

    Jim is responsible for managing and co-managing a range of fixed income funds, including the M&G Global Macro Bond Fund, and he heads the team responsible for investing across global investment-grade and high-yield credit, government debt and emerging markets debt. The team includes fixed income investment professionals based in London, Chicago, Singapore, Paris and Mumbai, and manages over £140bn of investments. Jim is a fixed income specialist with more than two decades of experience in government and corporate bond markets. Before joining M&G in 1997, he worked as an economist and trader for the Bank of England.

    His qualifications include a B.A. in Economics from the University of Manchester and completion of the Executive Programme at Singularity University, Silicon Valley (US). He is also an Associate of the CFA Society (UK). 

    Craig Simpson

    Portfolio Manager

    Land Economics Degree (University of Aberdeen).

    Craig joined M&G Investments (UK) as a Portfolio Manager in 2004, and in 2015 was appointed Head of Portfolio Management for the Multi Asset Team.

    With over 20 years of investment industry experience, Craig previously worked as a Trainee Fund Manager at Equitable Life Assurance and as an analyst at Pictet Asset Management.

    Gautam Samarth

    Portfolio Manager

    BS Economics (Trinity College); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute).

    Gautam joined M&G Investments UK in 2014 as a dedicated Analyst on the M&G Leaders team, and became Deputy Manager of the Global Leaders strategy on 1 April 2016. He started managing systematic equity strategies in August 2018 and is currently the co-Head of Systematic Investment Strategies.

    Prior to joining M&G Investments UK, Gautam worked for Credit Suisse in New York, where his last role was Vice President in the HOLT Investment Strategy Team.

    Egidijus Bertulis

    Portfolio Manager

    MPhil Finance and Economics (University of Cambridge); BSC Economics (University of Manchester; CFA

    Egidijus is a Deputy Portfolio Manager and the Head Data Scientist in the Systematic Investment Strategies at M&G. He started at M&G in 2017 as an investments graduate and joined the Systematic Investment Strategies in 2018.

    Egidijus holds an MPhil in Finance and Economics from the University of Cambridge graduating with Distinction, and a BSc in Economics from the University of Manchester. He passed CFA Level I through Level III exams on first attempt.

    Eva Sun-Wai

    Portfolio Manager

    Eva joined M&G in 2018 on the Investment Graduate Scheme, rotating across several business areas including Emerging Market Debt, Corporate Credit Research, Real Estate and Long Term Investment Strategy. In January 2021 Eva was appointed lead fund manager of the M&G Global Government Bond strategy and the Deputy Portfolio Manager of the M&G Global Macro Bond strategy, having been a junior macro fund manager in the Wholesale Fixed Income team since September 2019. 

    She has a BSc Economics degree from the University of Birmingham. She has obtained the IMC and Financial Services Level 6 qualifications and is a CFA Charterholder. 

     

    Robert Burrows

    Portfolio Manager

    B.Com (Hons) Finance and Economics (University of Pietermaritzburg); CFA Charterholder.

    Robert joined M&G Investments in 2007 and specialises in government bond and macro fixed income mandates. Prior to M&G, Robert worked in fund accounting for Cambridge Place Investment Management, a hedge fund boutique. Robert graduated from the University of Pietermaritzburg in South Africa with an honours degree in Finance and Economics. He is also a CFA charter holder.
